Upper St John Street, Lichfield

8 High End and Historic Apartments in the Heart of Lichfield

Description

Our proudest development to date, without doubt. Our relationship with this building was nothing short of a love affair. When we took on the building, it had been sanitised and stripped of much of its historical value, and we sought to restore, revive and reinvigorate the building’s incredible heritage and character.

Built around 1834, the building began as one house, then became two, before later being converted into modern office space. Our project involved the conversion into eight one and two-bedroom apartments, all designed with the elegance a building of this nature deserved.

This included refurbishing all of the original sash windows with ultra-thin double glazing, restoring and extending the original Minton tiled floor using matching tiles produced by a specialist museum, and reinstating the fireplaces with a host of reclaimed Victorian inserts.

The apartments were fitted to the high standards that Hessleby holds dear, with details such as timber wall panelling, oodles of built-in wardrobes, desks and dressing tables in every bedroom, and herringbone engineered wood flooring.

The result is something we will always be proud of and hope to emulate in many more buildings of this nature in the future.
